Digital Room Correction

Whether you're aware of it or not, your speakers are not in control of your bass frequencies. Your room is. Digital Room Correction (DRC) is a method of compensating for the room's influence on the sound, thereby bringing back the proper balanced response from the speakers. DRC can calibrate any room or studio with a computer as the audio source, delivering evenness of bass, a focused phantom center image, and soundstage clarity.

Meridian Soundworks offers 2-channel stereo DRC services for studios and traditional audiophile listening rooms. The service fee is $425, which includes:

• Multiple consultation calls via Zoom covering measurement analysis, filter design, software options, and personalized implementation track.

• Iterative filter generation process, up to a total of five. Correction filters are tailored to the client's personal preference over the course of the process.

• Delivery of all materials and information necessary for correction filter implementation at the end of the service.

Our method is simple. We offer online DRC services through the following steps:

1. Join your first consultation call via Zoom to discuss the process, hardware and correction options, and get started with measurement software.

2. Measure your room and send in your measurement file along with any supplemental material, such as a room diagram and photos.

3. An optimal baseline filter will be created and sent for auditioning.

4. Provide feedback based on the tonal characteristics of the initial filter. If necessary, a second filter can be generated to accommodate that feedback. This process can be repeated for up to a total of five filters to fine-tune the sound to your preference.

5. Attend your closing Zoom call to discuss your room measurements and how the filter was made. During this call you will get information concerning the procedure so that you can experiment further on your own.

Uros Todorovic

"Working with David was an exceptional experience. He guided me meticulously through the process of measuring my studio with Room EQ Wizard, transforming what is typically a challenging task into a straightforward one. Following the measurement of my room, I forwarded the data to David, who then crafted an exceptionally precise filter for me, all the while enlightening me on the nuances of the process. Additionally, I had numerous queries, and David was always available, providing thorough answers to each one. I wholeheartedly endorse his services."

Paul Jones

"I was a little skeptical at first, but David took me through his process and when I compared it with Sonarworks I was very amazed at how much better the results sounded. When I played back radio-released music, everything sounded really tight with a more defined stereo image that was wider and more pinpoint. The frequency spectrum is more refined and localization is easier to perceive. When I began to mix my music, I felt more confident with my EQ and compression moves, which required less time and less guesswork. The results that I experienced with David's assistance, in my opinion, give me about 40% better fidelity. The difference is very clear, so much so that I no longer use Sonarworks. I fully recommend this to any and everybody."

The fine print at the bottom of the page:

• The offered DRC service is intended for computer-based 2-channel audio systems. We do not offer services for multi-channel setups or other system types at this time.

• Clients are required to purchase their own gear. This includes any software in addition to Room EQ Wizard and any required hardware such as an audio interface and a sufficient measurement microphone and cable.

• For audio playback, the computer system requires a convolver to be inserted into the audio signal path. This topic and available options are discussed in the first Zoom call.

• While the pace of service is lenient, there is a time restriction. Service begins on the date of payment and continues for a period of 90 days. After the time window has passed, no further service will be provided without extension fees. All payments made are non-refundable.

• In the event that DRC service is completed prior to the closing of the 90-day window, the service shall be considered ended as of the date of completion. No amount of compensation for time left over shall be refunded.

• Troubleshooting and technical support unrelated to the actual service falls under the category of extension fees.

• Extension fees include, but are not limited to:

- software and related functionality that isn't directly part of the main service.

- time spent beyond the 90-day service window.
